Utility Partners Highlight Programs and Services
Latest Informational Breakfast Attended by Small and Large Companies
On Tuesday, November 14, 2023, more than 35 businesses from the Greater Dubuque area attended an informational breakfast to learn about programs and services offered by regional gas and electric utility companies. This free event was held at the Diamond Jo Casino in the Port of Dubuque and served as the latest in a series of informational programs for existing businesses sponsored by Greater Dubuque Development. In May 2023, Greater Dubuque Development hosted an event designed to introduce area manufacturing companies to the services of Iowa State University’s Center for Industrial Research and Service (CIRAS).
November’s event, billed as the Utility Partners Breakfast, introduced area businesses to some of the people and programs from Iowa’s electric and gas utility companies. Over the course of an hour, representatives from Alliant Energy, Black Hills Energy, and Maquoketa Valley Electric Cooperative provided information that businesses can utilize to help them save money and become more energy efficient. Attendees learned about Iowa tax exemptions, franchise fee refunds, customized business solutions, rebates, energy efficiency programs, the community/economic development revolving loan fund, and more. The event concluded with key staff members from the respective utilities taking questions and inviting attendees to schedule follow-up meetings if needed.
