Distinctively Dubuque Welcomes New Facilitator on August 21, 2024

2025 Sessions Announced and Registration Open

Greater Dubuque is pleased to welcome Kristin Dietzel as the new facilitator for our Distinctively Dubuque newcomer program with the upcoming session starting on August 21, 2024.

Kristin graduated from University of St. Thomas in 2004, earned a master’s degree from University of Iowa in 2006 and a Certificate of Analytics from Loras College in 2014. She and her husband Kevin moved to Dubuque in 2009, and have two school-age children, twins Charlotte and Beckett. Kristin's professional life in Dubuque has included serving as Northeast Iowa Community College's Director of Grants and Executive Director of Institutional Effectiveness. This was followed by overseeing Greater Dubuque Development's comprehensive community workforce recruitment, retention, and education and training programs as our Vice President of Workforce Solutions from March 2016 to January 2021. Kristin is currently the CEO of Painted Sky Designs, a wholesale and retail outdoor furniture company founded and operating in Dubuque, and gives back to the community as a board member for the Dubuque Museum of Art, the Dubuque Senior Educational Foundation, and Dubuque Initiatives.

Kristin's long-time dedication to community development in the Greater Dubuque region and first-hand knowledge gleaned through raising a family here, make her a perfect fit to take on the facilitation of Distinctively Dubuque following the retirement of Jan Powers who had overseen the program since 2010.

In addition to welcoming Kristin, we are excited to announce and begin taking registration for all four 2025 sessions of Distinctively Dubuque:

  • Session 1 of 2025: January 20 - February 26, 2025
  • Session 2 of 2025: March 12 - April 9, 2025
  • Session 3 of 2025: August 20 - September 17, 2025
  • Session 4 of 2025: October 1 - 29, 2025

Spots are also available in the last session of 2024 starting on October 2. Register for the October 2024 session or those set for 2025 online or by contacting Mandi Dolson, Director of Workforce Recruitment & Retention at 563-557-9049 or mandid@greaterdubuque.org.

Designed for individuals that have relocated or returned to the area in the last five years, Distinctively Dubuque is hosted by high-energy presenters with in-depth knowledge of the Greater Dubuque region. Thanks to our generous sponsors of the DRA, the City of Dubuque and Dubuque County, this newcomer program is free of charge to all participants. Each session consists of five consecutive Wednesday evenings from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Participants meet at unique venues, enjoy local cuisine, learn about the Greater Dubuque region, and get to know fellow newcomers in a fun and relaxing atmosphere.
