Quality Care The exceptional hospitals, facilities and level of care in and around the City of Dubuque have grown with the medical needs of these communities. Accessible and affordable healthcare options exist from birth to those in need of assisted living environments. Hundreds of specialized personnel provide around-the-clock service to area residents. The Greater Dubuque area is served by two hospitals, Mercy Medical Center and the Finley Hospital.
Mercy Medical Center Mercy has 263 beds available for patient use, provides a full range of inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures, and places a high priority on patient care and comfort. Mercy’s ER is listed by the American Academy of Emergency Medicine as one of only five hospitals in the state of Iowa—the only one in the Dubuque area to have at least one board certified ER physician available 24 hours a day.
The Finley Hospital The Finley Hospital has 158 beds and all resources are coordinated to effectively provide a wide range of health care services to meet the health care needs of the tri-state area. Finley is also home to the Wendt Regional Center where they offer high quality cancer care. They have raised the standard of radiation cancer treatment available in the tri-state area with a state-of-the-art linear accelerator, radiation simulator and computerized 3-D treatment-planning computer.
